Contemporary Russian artist Filipp Moskvitin works in the traditions of the Moscow School of Painting. He is a member of Moscow Union of Artists (2003), the Union of Artists of Russia (2007), corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Literature (2012). In the large gallery of Filipp Moskvitin “Saints and great people of Russia” – portraits of clerics, Russian princes, great scientists, philosophers, writers and famous of our contemporaries. A special place in it hold portraits of Russian saints – the patriarchs and metropolitans from Kiev Metropolitan Hilarion to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill.
In the gallery of Filipp Moskvitin are well known missionaries – saints – Nicholas of Japan, Nestor of Kamchatka, Innokenty of Moscow (Veniaminov), Innokenty of Irkutsk. In the gallery of the New Martyrs – St. Tikhon, Patriarch of All Russia, the martyr Archbishop Hilarion of Verey. It includes historical paintings devoted to sain images of Royal Passion and newly-glorified saints. For the Alexander Nevsky Monastery, the artist created a series of hagiographic paintings dedicated to St. Alexander Nevsky.
The portrait gallery of Filipp Moskvitin’s paintings include great men – Prince Rurik, Princess Olga, Prince Vladimir the Brave, Minin and Pozharsky, M. Lomonosov, E. Dashkova, Ushakov, A. Suvorov, Nikolai Gogol, Modest Mussorgsky, Kireevskii, P. Stolypin, I. Ilyin, N. Rubtsov, G. Sviridov, V. Belov, G. Rasputin, Andrei Tarkovsky, Bryusov, Yuri Gagarin, alongside with the portraits of the elders.
To the 400th anniversary of the accession of the House of Romanov Filipp Moskvitin dedicated exhibition “Spiritual service of Romanov Dynasty”. The exhibition featured portrait gallery of Russian kings and queens, the central core of the exhibition were historical paintings devoted to acts of sovereigns – “Anointing of Mikhail Fedorovich,” “The appearance of St Sava before tsar Alexei Mikhailovich”,”The transfer of the relics of Alexander Nevsky by the Emperor Peter the Great”, “Oath of Preobrazhentsy to Empress Elizabeth”, “The transfer of Maltese shrines by emperor Paul”, “God Save the Tsar. The celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty.”
A special place in the work of Filipp Moskvitin takes tempera canonical icons, he recreated the iconostasis and painted hundreds of icons for the monasteries and churches in Russia. The artist Moskvitin has ten years of teaching experience including seven years of teaching iconography.
Filipp Moskvitin participates in the national and international exhibitions each year, holds solo exhibitions featuring different genres of his work, exhibitions devoted to important events and dates of Russian history, church history and biblical subjects.
Artist Filipp Moskvitin awarded gratitude (2010) and a “worthy” diploma (2011) of the Russian Academy of Arts, the medal “For sacrificial service” of social movement “Orthodox Russia” (2012), Medal of Saints Nicholas of Japan, the Russian Orthodox Church (2012), awarded cross “for the commemoration of the War of 1812” (2012), silver medal “For outstanding contribution to national culture” (2013), the medal “In memory of the 400th anniversary of the Romanov House 1613-2013”.
